A Beautiful bride.

Monday, 6 August 2012

A few months ago I received an e-mail from a lovely lady called Keli who was getting married in August, she asked me to produce a bunting necklace and bracelet for her wedding. I couldn't think of anything more wonderful than the opportunity to produce an item that would be a part of someones most important day of their lives.

I set about creating a necklace and bracelet in a range of designs, I also thought it would be nice with this been a keepsake to add something a bit extra, so for the necklace I produced a personalised bunting pendant that went on the back of the necklace with the bride and grooms initials and wedding date on. I really liked the bracelet and produced two different designs for Keli to choose from, I also placed the patterns on both sides of the bunting so which ever way the bunting hung there would always be a pattern on show. Similar designs of the bracelet will be added to my store soon so please keep an eye out, here are a few images of the finished products. I didn't post them earlier as I didn't want the groom to catch a glimpse of them!

Keli tied the knot on Friday and its fair to say she looked stunning, I wish all my love and best wishes for a long and happy future to Keli and her husband. Here a few images of the bride and groom!

I loved creating this product for Keli and if any other brides out there would like a personalised item for their big day please just give a message!

Minimoon.....coastal vintage getaways!

Monday, 16 July 2012

Hello!

I have been looking recently at ideas for our mini moon, for our honeymoon we are hoping to go to America for a couple of weeks and see San Fransico and lots of other places, but this won't be happening for a good couple of months after our wedding. So as the new craze seems to be mini moons I have been looking at different ideas. I love the seaside and want to spend some where by the coast! and  love vintage, so would like to  stay somewhere a bit different. One place I have known about for a couple of years now is Vintage Vacations on the Isle of Wight, they have a range of different accommodation including some stunning Air stream caravans. But the one accommodation which caught my eye was The Shack, a stunning shack by the beach, here are a few images

Another option is to stay a little bit closer to home to one of my favourite places in Whitby, La Rosa. When ever we are in Whitby we always make a trip to their tearooms but we have never stayed at the B&B. If you are ever in Whitby pop into La Rosa for some tea and cake the surroundings alone are great!
La Rosa also run a camp-site situated between Goathland and Egton where you can stay in vintage and classic caravans, 'Roma's full of etched glass' a converted truck with a wood burner or a Tipi! and hang the night away in a big top circus with an open pit fire. Recently they've refurbished their onsite barn and opened Swallow Barn,. the barn comes complete with wood burner and a roll top bath to create the perfect romantic setting!

If we don't go to the barn I think the camp-site is a great alternative for a hen do.

Another place I came across to stay is in Deal Kent, I couldn't find a website for this property but bookings can been taken through Trip advisor. This a lovely fisherman's cottage just a stones throw away from the beach, Deal itself looks a lovely place to stay.

So if you are looking for a coastal holiday with a little bit of a vintage twist check these places out!

Jodie Anna is getting hitched part 2!

Thursday, 28 June 2012

So I have spent a lot of time on the internet lately.... its fair to say and I didn't think I would ever say this but I am actually bored of the internet! ahhhhhh hopefully that will change when I am better and able to leave the house. But this has given me plenty of time to do a lot of looking and a little buying for my wedding. Which by the way is year away on the 29th of June!!!

Me and my partner Paul want a wedding that represents both our tastes and interests, we both love vintage and handmade so this will be a major part of our wedding day,

One of the things that I have wanted before I was even engaged was brooch/button bouquet. So I have
started collecting buttons and enamel flower brooches to make my own bouquet and button holes. Here are a few images of the ones I have collected so far,

As you can see from the images our key colours are red, blue and white... I think I have a lot more collecting to-do but they already look so lovely altogether.

Here are some beautiful examples of button/brooch bouquets.

Enjoy!

Spot of tea..... or maybe coffee!

Sunday, 17 June 2012

Hello,

Over the past few weeks I have had plenty of time to sit and draw! I have lots of new ideas that will slowly develop.... hopefully! One that I have been working on is a new necklace and brooch for my Great British Tea range. Not every body likes tea so decided to create a coffee pot! This was inspired by a lovely coffee pot I found at a charity shop a couple of years ago. It sits in my kitchen window... and mainly contains flowers not coffee!

Enjoy the rest of your fathers day!

Where has time gone!

Hello!

Its fair to say that April, May and looks like June have been a pretty rubbish few months for Jodie Anna. I apologise for the lack of blogging, tweets and facebook posts.

At the end of April I sadly lost my grandmother, it was very sudden and unexpected and its fair to say that it broke my heart. My Gma was a massive source of inspiration for a lot of my work. She was the lady that took me to the seaside every year during summer holidays with my brother and sister and my cousins and created a lot of the memories that I use in my work today. When I think of any childhood memories she was always apart of them and she will carry on living on within my work. I am currently working on a new product that my grandma asked me to make for her the week that she died, as soon as I have some images of this I will be posting them.

As well as this I have been extremely poorly since the start of May to now! I am starting to get slightly  fed up of not been allowed to do anything but sleep and stay indoors!.... and not getting any better. This has made Jodie Anna ... pratitucly non existent. I missed all the jubilee events as well as attending the wonderful June Reet Sweet! and The Diamond Jubilee festival at Battersea park London!

Even though I have missed all these there were some good stuff! Jodie Anna was featured in the June issue of Vogue!

So my apologises for the absences and Jodie Anna will be back soon with lots of new products and a few pictures of  outings.... which involved cake of course before I became poorly. Please keep checking back.

A catch up!

Wednesday, 21 March 2012

Hello,

I hope you are all having a good week! I have had a very busy March so I apologise for the lack of posts! I am going to make more of an effort to Blog on a regular basis!

This month I have taken part in a lot of fairs some really great ones, I love doing fairs getting the chance to meet people who purchase your work and also to meet other makers. I had the chance to catch up with some regular makers, please check out their work they are extremely talented!

Fox bunting

I absolutely love Fox bunting's work. I love the patterns she uses, her brilliant illustrations and the cleverness of her ideas. I couldn't resist any longer, after seeing fox bunting at a fair two weeks in a row I had to buy myself a beautiful peter pan collar with a little fox on! I can't wait to wear this. They are now available in her Etsy shop! She also has a great blog, which currently has a brilliant give away,so pop over for a chance to win one of her amazing Deer heads!

Another lady I see at the great Reet Sweet Fairs is Jil made this... again I have purchased many items from Jil! I think we should just start swapping each others items!

Check out her Etsy store.

My new Rule Britannia range is finally finished and photographed. A lot of items are already available on my Not on the high street store so please pop by and have a look, but in the mean time here are a few images.

I wanted to photograph the images in a Great British tea party setting and I'm really happy with the results, I will be arranging a larger photo shoot soon that will include items from a few of my ranges.

I'm really glad my range is all ready to go as i am attending my first London fair at the end of March, the fair is part of the London Pride Festival that will mark the start of the Queens golden jubilee. Its going to be a great event so if you are in Ilford London on the 31st of March and fancy a trip to the Valentines Mansion please pop by and say hello!

I shall say bye for now but will be posting more soon!

Rule Britannia!

Sunday, 26 February 2012

Hello!
I hope you all had a good weekend, I have been busy the past couple of weeks getting my illustrations together for one of my new collections 'Rule Britannia' seen as 2012 is this year to be proud to be British! I wanted to create a range that reflected some of the iconic images of Britannia, and some of my favorite things. The ideas were endless.... and I have had trouble deciding where stop! I have some great ideas for these illustrations and will be working in lots of new mediums and hopefully broadening Jodie Anna's range to homewares, Greeting cards and prints.

These are just a few of the illustrations I have been working on, I hope you like them! and will keep you posted on their progress.

Part 1 Jodie Anna is getting hitched! Harrogate vintage wedding fair

Wednesday, 22 February 2012

Hello!

Well as you can tell by the title I'm getting hitched! me and my partner have been engaged for a few years now and decided it was about time we tied the knot. So seen as I love all things vintage and handmade! it only seems natural that the two will be very prominent on our wedding day. So I thought I would blog my ideas and Journey to my wedding day!

On Sunday we attended the Harrogate Vintage wedding fair, we went a couple of years ago but there was so much more stuff this time... I came out buzzing with ideas and wanting so many things.... not good! Paul (of Stott and Atkinson) my lovely husband to be took some great images of the event.

Vintage weddings have become increasingly fashionable recently which means there are so many possabilities .... and I will have to get my thinking cap on for new ideas!

It's been too long!

Monday, 20 February 2012

Hello!

It has been a while since I last blog but with a massive rush at Christmas and then been poorly I have got a little behind with everything! So I am slowly getting back to myself.

I have lots of new exciting projects coming up, One of the biggest changes to Jodie Anna is..... that all my items are going to be laser cut, it was a big decision as I was worried that having my items laser cut would take away the handmade side of my items but I have had my samples back and they look great! .... well I think they do. It makes my pieces look much sharper and pristine. I am also working on two new collections that I hope will be ready soon and fingers crossed by mid March Jodie Anna will be re-launched with new packaging and new laser cut items! all very exciting.

But if you can't wait to for a sneak peek of my new collections I will have some items with me at the following fairs, International women's day on the 4th of March at the Queens hotel Leeds.

This going to be a great event so if you are in the area please pop in.

Another fair I will be attending, which I always love been apart of is the Reet Sweet Fairs, March will see Reet Sweet return to the Millennium galleries in Sheffield a great venue and a great day out.

I have lots of exciting bits going on but will leave these for my next post, just one more bit of exciting news me and my boyfriend.... well Fiance finally booked our wedding! yeah so lots of posts about my projects for this.
